Last night, she decided to make homemade corn tortillas. After making the dough, she recruited my daughter and they set up an assembly line.
This is the second and last station. The dough ball on the plate was transferred to the tortilla press before coming back to the small plate before being cooked on the comal.
Plastic keeps the dough from sticking to the press. It’s better than using flour like they used to.
That lever arm can generate some significant force for flattening dough.
From here, the new tortilla goes to the small plate, ready for cooking!
After cooking, a little butter and salt makes it into a savory treat! Now I just need them to make another batch so we can have carne guisada tacos for dinner.
